Swetha Sitaram

Swetha

Swetha Sitaram is  Kalatarangini's classical dance and carnatic music instructor. She has been learning bharatanatyam in "Guru Kripa Natyalaya" for more than 15 years, under the guidence of Guru Deepa Balaji, who comes from a  parampara of  renowned teachers from the kalakshetra bani.

She completed her arangetram (graduation performance) at the age of 11. Subsequently she has been performing every year during the Chennai December Dance Festival in many of the Sabhas like Kartik Fine Arts, Thyaga Bhrama Gana Sabha,  Kapali Fine, Indian Fine Arts and annual events including the prestigious International Dance Alliance (IDA). 

She has performed in TV programs  like Kalai Cholai - Sun TV , Thaka Dhimi Tha - Jaya TV . She has backed the TOP Ten Artistes Award from VDS Arts Academy,  Best performer of the year award from Parthasarathyswami Sabha (Age selection 16-25), Best team for maths through dance event.

 She has been trained in Carnatic music by guru Smt. Radha Narayanan, Chennai, India.
She hold a master's degree in Food and Nutritional Biotechnology. She currently resides in Finland and has been giving a number of music and dance stage shows.

Sitaram Rajaraman

Sitaram Rajaraman is Kalatarangini's carnatic music instructor. He has learnt Carnatic music for more than 10 years under the able tutelage of a very dedicated guru, late Sri Kesavan, Pondicherry, India.  He has given concerts at local temples and sabhas such as TTD, Pondicherry.

He had the honour of performing at the Indian embassy in Sweden on account of republic day of India (2011) with his team. He believes in constant learning and enjoys exploring different kinds of music from traditional to modern.

 He is the lead vocalist of an indo-finnish band -"Sitaram and Friends". He brought in the concept of  fusing indian mantras with carnatic compositions of similar ragas (melodic modes). This mantra fusion was  performed  at several occasions. in Helsinki.

He is also a part of  Kalatarangini's creative team for thematic dance performances. He works on the presentations and voice overs. He presented a lecture demonstration in the basics of carnatic music at the prestigious Sibelius academy in Helsinki, organised by the Indian embassy in Finland.
He is currently pursuing his phD in plant biology at the University of Helsinki.
